When I first started looking into getting my first cane corso 20 years ago there were barely any options of breeders or any real info out there on the breed in general. This go around, it was the opposite as the cane corso has become a popular breed and everyone seems to be breeding them... which is good and bad. Great seeing the breed
"resurected" and getting the love it deserves, but very bad seeing so many so called "breeders" jumping on the wagon.. the cane corso is not a breed for the vast majority of people and can be a very dangerous dog when not bred correctly.
After a lot of research, Mariah at Canadian Shield Cane Corso is where i landed this go around. And i can confidentaly say i have found my Cane Corso breeder for life. There are others out there who also do a great job, but from the start, seeing how selective she is in not only who she is willing to entrust one of her pups to, but also just as selective in deciding which pup goes to which family instead of first come first served, I knew I had found the right breeder!! Stepping foot on the grounds and visiting her dogs only made that decision even more clear and easy to make. The love and passion Mariah has for her dogs and the betterment of the breed is second to none.
Everyone knows how incredible Royce is and want there puppy to be a mini version of him... and although that isn't something she can guarantee, its what she strives for. Nothing proves how good of a breeder you are more then the puppies you produce, and I can state from my experience that Sterling has been everything I could have ever asked for. Not only is he an absolute stud and in perfect health/shape, but his character and behavior is absolutely incredible. Friendly with everyone he meets, extremely curious and observant, always wanting to be by my side, and runs towards danger instead of away from it. At around 5 months old we got into a bad car accident where our pickup got Tboned by an 18 wheeler, and not only did he not seemed bothered by it on spot, he never had an issue with getting back into a truck afterwards. I can not thank Mariah enough for entrusting me with Sterling and being included in the Canadian Shield Cane Corso family !!! Looking forward to one day soon adding a little girl to play with Sterling :) - Philippe

Mariah is an ethical breeder who ensures that she maintains the standards of the Cane Corso and ensures the genetic wellbeing of her dogs by health testing prior to breeding. She has a strict screening process to ensure that her puppies end up in good loving and safe homes. Mariah personalizes the experience and listened to what we were looking in the dog and matched us to one who fits perfectly with our family. I would highly recommend Canadian Shield Cane Corso to anyone looking to get a Cane Corso. If you pass the screening process then there is a meet and greet where Mariah will answer all your questions and you get to meet every one of her dogs. Each one is stable, confident and friendly and Mariah is so knowledgeable about the breed. Any question I had (which was many) she was just a text away and gives you all the information needed to set you up for success with your new puppy and continues to provide guidance, which was so important to me when looking for a breeder. I am new to feeding raw and she has been a wealth of knowledge for that as well. Everyone who meets our boy falls in love with him. He is so calm, confident and loving, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect puppy for our family. If we ever decide to add another Cane Corso to our family it will be from Mariah :)

We couldn’t be happier with our Cane Corso puppy! From the very beginning, it was clear that he came from an amazing breeder. He is incredibly smart, calm, and surprisingly quiet for a puppy. His temperament is wonderful, and you can really see the care and attention that went into raising him before he came home with us.
Mariah is extremely knowledgeable about the breed and it truly shows in the quality of the dogs she produces. She took the time to answer all of our questions and continues to be there whenever we need advice or guidance. That kind of support means so much, especially when bringing home a new puppy.

We would recommend Mariah and Canadian Shield Cane Corso all day EVERY day!!! Came across her posts on social media about 5 years ago and began following her.
After a bad experience with a different breeder I knew the next one wouldn't be until I had researched and followed and watched.
Mariah is all the things you want and need in an ethical breeder - she's open, honest, transparent, responsible and just the friendliest human. Besides all the health testing and ethical practices (that I really feel should be mandated by law), she really invests in her breeding stock, her puppies and her potential families. Her puppy applications/approval process is multi step and stringent and I couldn't have been more impressed. When we came up on the wait list and the timing wasn't right for us, she understood and let us wait for the next time. Like I said - incredible human!
If you are serious about the breed and want a dog from Mariah you will have to pass the test and wait on her list but you'll not be disappointed. We have had our Dolce home for a week and she's been an absolute dream. She's already so smart and fits in so well with our family. I know it comes down to the time and care Mariah put into her before she trusted us to be her family. We couldn't be more proud to be part of the CSCC family! Thank you Mariah

We adopted our new little guy just last week. He flew home to BC and was amazing on the flight home. Since then he has really settled in and opened up.
